THE FUEL CHEMISTRY IMPACTS OF GASOLINE/ETHANOL BLENDS IN AN HCCI SINGLE CYLINDER RESEARCH ENGINE

CRC Project No. AVFL-13b

Leaders:    S. W. Jorgensen

                  K. J. Wright

Scope and Objective

The objective of this project is to identify fuel chemistry that impacts operation in 'gasoline' homogenous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engines.

Current Status and Future Program

This project is a follow-on to AVFL-13, using the same contractor, test engine, and protocol, with a different fuel set that explores the effect of ethanol on the HCCI combustion. This project is ongoing, and is expected to continue into 2008.
